The factory was the first in Brazil to adopt laserwelding and qualitymeasurement equipment integrated in the production process. An important milestone was Fox’s production, from 2003. Developed in Brazil, it was exported to the European market from there – more than 300 thou- sandmodels from 2005 to 2011 and, in all, Fox has recently surpassed the mark of 2 million units produced in Parana. In April last year, VW announced a R$ 2 billion investment in the unit for the de- velopment and production of the compact SUV, the T-Cross. The value contemplates the capacity expansion, manufacturing modernization within concepts of Indus- try 4.0, local development of parts and staff qualification.
